1946 WAS A BUSY YEAR: Italy abolished monarchy, Harry Truman was president of the United States and noted author H.G. Wells' (War of the Worlds, Time Machine) passed away.
But, we are forgetting one more significant detail. The Opera stage on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria was built...and the world of theater hasn't been the same since.
The Bregenz Festival 'Opera on the Lake' in Austria hasbeen home to some of the most incredible outdoor stages ever built and some of the world's most famous operas.
This performance below was "A Masked Ball" by Giuseppe Verdi in 1999. The best part? No stage is every the same; each year it is an entirely new design. Forget Broadway! This is where every performer dreams to be.
